The world’s most beautiful cabriolet?

The MG TF has been judged the ‘World’s Most Beautiful Cabriolet’ at the awards ceremony held by L’Automobile piu Bella del Mondo, in Milan. A panel of 13 international judges, made up from design experts outside the automotive industry, credited MG TF with the class win ‘for blending great originality and typical elements of MG tradition, with a strong casual and dynamic character’.

The World’s Most Beautiful Automobile title is an established award, now in its 10th year. It recognises design significance from a non-automotive perspective. Judges included leading art critic Bruno Alfieri and art-photographer Gianni Berengo Gardin. Thirty-three car product designs are judged in nine categories.

John Sanders, sales & marketing director, said: “This accolade is an outstanding achievement particularly in the light of such an impressive body of judges and another example of how the company’s talented styling and engineering teams have developed the MG TF into a car of both substance and style.”

The Rover 75 won the high-class saloon category in 1999. The MG TF has also been awarded ‘Cabrio of the Year’ at last year’s Geneva Motor Show and recently performed exceptionally well in Euro NCAP tests with a four-star occupant and three-star pedestrian result. It is available in four specification models, priced between GBP15,750 and GBP19,995.Issued by MG Rover Group Communications: +44 (0)121 482 5935 / fax: +44 (0)121 482 6165

Roger Dodger

This movie absolutely rocks! It’s set in NYC and is all about a would-be smoothie called Roger (Campbell Scott) who reckons he’s mastered the art of manipulating women. He thinks he has life licked, until along comes his geeky teenage nephew, Nick, who wants to get an all night crash-course on seducing babes in the Big Apple (yeah, I think I need one of these courses!). 🙂
The result is a very witty and stylish film with an awesome soundtrack. Scott’s performance as Roger will leave you hating the guy (and maybe you’ll see yourself in it too!), but at the same time you wonder if he’s learning any lessons off of the very person he’s trying to teach.

This one gets a big richii.com thumbs up!

March 2003 Dance Chart

Another month, another set of tunes! This month an awesome house track tops the charts – “Make Luv” by “Room 5 featuring Oliver Cheatham”. It features a sample of the 80’s classic “Get Down Saturday Night” – if you liked Stardusts’ Music Sounds Better, you’ll like this. It’s currently featured on the Lynx TV Campaign in the UK and is due for UK release on 24 March. Next up in the chart is “Forever And A Day” by “State One” which is a great vocal trance track – it was released last month – don’t know too much about State One – but it’s a CHOON!
The Extension 119 Club Mix of t.A.T.u.’s catchy (well, if not catchy, it’s certain on every playlist right now) “All The Things She Said” makes it to number 3 – and it actually breathes new life into this hit. Another housey track in the form of Kreo’s “Burn For You” is at number 4, quickly followed by the Above & Beyond Mix of Vivian Green’s “Emotional Rollercoaster” – a fine bit of uplifting vocal trance!
Ian Van Dahl fans should check their mix of Conjure One’s Sleep. Other highlights to check out include the NYC-sounding “Drunkenmunkey” track called “E” (instrumental dance version of Eminnem’s “Without Me”), System F’s “Together” and “Inner Life” by Decoy and Roy. Enjoy!

West Midlands Police issue urgent report

West Midlands Police were inundated today when up to thirty thousand vila fans turned themselves in for invading the pitch during Mondays’ derby clash with Birmingham City.

This occured shortly after the Vile’s management team announced that any fan who had invaded the pitch during their home defeat against Birmingham City will be banned for life. Within hours of the announcement large queues began to form at police stations in Aston, Erdington, Great Barr and Sutton Coldfield reports suggested that telephone switchboards were being jammed, as fans who were not even in the country phoned their connfessions to astounded police officers.Major incidents were reported when riots broke out as several desperate fans rushed to the front of the queues. Internal police inquires were quickly launched, as accusations flew, that officers had been bribed by fans deperate to get their names onto the lists.

Precious fire resources were diverted to many police stations as desperate fans chained themselves to railings and needed to be cut free. Chaos ensued as up to fifteen fans chained themselves to a police officers’ bicycle, after he had stopped to tell someone the time. Several passers-by whitnessed the shocking sight of grown men weeping and begging, as they desperately pleaded to be put onto the list.

The police have called for public calm and assured the fans that all cases will be carefully investigated and the bans will be issued entirely on merit, with no preferential treatment for anyone. Chief Inspector Gusset of the Aston Constabulary in a short public announcement said, “I can assure the public that this will not be handled on a first come, first serverd basis, and there is no need to panic.”

The latest report suggests that calm has been restored and refreshments are being handed out by compassionate salvation army volunteers, to the many fans who are desperate to keep their place in the queues, they are willing to camp out overnight.

One fan was quoted as saying “This is a once in a lifetime chance and I’m determined not to miss out”.

Reeeeeeesult! Blues destroy the Villa!

Well, it was always going to be a massive match – and explosive it certainly was! I’ve just watched Blues v Villa on Fox Sports World and I have to ask – what on earth was Dion Dublin thinking of by headbutting Robbie Savage right in front of the ref?

Anyway – despite all of the hype, Birmingham were by far the better, side throughout. Clinton Morrison was unlucky not to have us one up after 20 minutes when he just headed wide. 5 minutes into the second half and Dion Dublin launched a very late tackle on Robbie Savage. It was an obvious yellow, but Dion lost it completly (see photo) and proceeded to headbutt Savage. That cost them the game.
Stan caught the end of a Jeff Kenna cross to put us 1-0 fifteen minutes from the end. Then 5 minutes later the very clumsy Peter Enckleman does his usual vile magic, is clumsy with the ball and gives the ball to Horsfield to make to make it 2-0 to Birmingham!! Villa then continued to self-destruct and a few minutes later Gudjonsson was sent off for a second bookable offence and the shambolic Vile were left with 9 men!
Thanks Villa – we waited 16 years to play you, and you gave us 6 points this season. THANK YOU!

Oh yeah, and here’s a very funny pre-match interview with Graham Taylor titled “We won’t let fans down” – if you didn’t let yourselves down tonight Vile, I don’t know who did!

John Tweedy, International Markets Director at MG Rover Group, said: “This success in the first few months of our re-entry in to New Zealand is another example of the great enthusiasm for our products shown in new markets and bodes well for our expansion in international markets.”
