April 2003 Dance Chart

This month’s chart is topped by a hugely catchy 3rd single by “4 Strings” called “Let It Rain”. It’s in a similar style to their previous releases by with strong lyrics from this Benelux-based group. Check it! “Janeiro” by “Solid Sessions” finally got a US release during March – it features some new remixes and the Marc Et Claude & Paul Hutsch Remix brings this track into the number 2 spot.
Haunting lyrics from “Ghostland” sees their “Guide Me God” release move to 3rd place. The remixers on this release include Junior Vasquez and Paul Van Dyk, but the Jet Extended Mix is my fave, with a catchy piano chorus.
Other highlights on this month’s chart include a brand new remix and vocals of Rank 1’s classic “Airwave”. The newly updated version is called “Dreaming”. Check out Rank 1’s website here. NICE! The 3rd single from DJ Sammy’s “Heaven” album is likely to be “Sunlight” and it already features mixes by Minimalistix. Also check out “Someday” by Rezonance Q (Flip n’ Fill Remix) – it’s a cover of the old Mariah Carey track brought right up to date. Choon!

March 2003 Dance Chart

Another month, another set of tunes! This month an awesome house track tops the charts – “Make Luv” by “Room 5 featuring Oliver Cheatham”. It features a sample of the 80’s classic “Get Down Saturday Night” – if you liked Stardusts’ Music Sounds Better, you’ll like this. It’s currently featured on the Lynx TV Campaign in the UK and is due for UK release on 24 March. Next up in the chart is “Forever And A Day” by “State One” which is a great vocal trance track – it was released last month – don’t know too much about State One – but it’s a CHOON!
The Extension 119 Club Mix of t.A.T.u.’s catchy (well, if not catchy, it’s certain on every playlist right now) “All The Things She Said” makes it to number 3 – and it actually breathes new life into this hit. Another housey track in the form of Kreo’s “Burn For You” is at number 4, quickly followed by the Above & Beyond Mix of Vivian Green’s “Emotional Rollercoaster” – a fine bit of uplifting vocal trance!
Ian Van Dahl fans should check their mix of Conjure One’s Sleep. Other highlights to check out include the NYC-sounding “Drunkenmunkey” track called “E” (instrumental dance version of Eminnem’s “Without Me”), System F’s “Together” and “Inner Life” by Decoy and Roy. Enjoy!

Liberty X and Dannii Videos

Liberty X are back with another awesome track! This time they’ve teamed up with Richard X (no, that’s not me, I’m Richard O!) to bring the Rufus & Chaka Khan classic “Ain’t Nobody” bang up to date. After listening to US Radio for so long, this is HP refreshing pop at it’s HP best. And why do Libery X rock so much I hear you ask? Answer: here. Anyway, check out the video for Being Nobody here. And if you’re really keen, you can vote for it on The Box – Video 400.

Dannii Minogue will be coming out with a brand new album next month (17 March) called “Neon Lights”. February Dance Chart

Beautiful Together – the third single by dance outfit Oceanlab tops this months chart – it’s a great vocal trancer including remixes by Signum. The new single by Ayla is in the number two position – for more information on Ayla – visit DJ Tandu’s website – the site also features videos of Ayla’s older tracks. I’ve discovered a great new remix of Iio’s track “At The End” – The UltraSun remix. I’ve got more information about UltraSun to post shortly, but I do know that they have plans for a follow-up single of their own called “We Can Runaway”.
“I Saw A Light” by Velvet Culture was a track I tracked down in Toronto last month – it may be a little old now, but it’s still sounding fresh. 🙂
Logic Records USA have released a previously unreleased track written by the late Melanie Thorton of La Bouche. The track – “In Your Life” has an awesome mix by “Shane 54” and the track is taken from a new greatest hits album planned for the Spring. Melanie Thorton died in a plane crash late 2001. Click here for more info on La Bouche.
Other tracks getting UK releases soon are DJ Sammy’s “The Boys Of Summer”, Chicane’s “Love On The Run” and “Don’t Think It, Feel It” by Lange – watch out for them!

Fresh New Videos

OK – I finally managed to track down the video for “The One” by Dee Dee! You can visit Dee Dee’s Official website here. I saw this loads of times back in England over Christmas, though no sign of it over this side of the pond. This is the follow-up to the Belgian act’s debut single (Forever) and is produced by the same team behind Ian Van Dahl. Check out the follow-up to Forever, “The One” here.
“I’ll Be Your Angel” by Kira was featured on my charts all the way back in July 2002. It looks like it’s finally getting a UK release in the next couple of months. Check out the this awesome choon here.
Finally, check out a cool cover of Cyndi Lauper’s time-less hit “Time After Time” by Novaspace. It was out last year on Oz, but gets a UK release on 10 Feb – check it out here.

January 2003 Dance Chart

Happy New Year everyone! Sorry this month’s chart is on the late side, but to make up for it there are a couple of awesome tracks to kick off 2003.
The Way (Put Your Hand In My Hand) by Divine Inspiration is an awesome uplifting dance track – it features vocals from Sarah-Jane Scott. The good thing about music is that everyone has opinions, and I just read a terrible review of this track. I think it’s awesome, and was certainly everywhere in the UK this Christmas. It’s also just gone into
the UK charts at number 5. Check out the video here.
Charlotte Church is not someone you’d expect to associate with Dance, but she’s done the vocals for Jurgen Vries’ new track called Brave New World. A great vocal trancer and an awesome video. Other vocal trance on the chart includes the awesome Armin Van Buuren Remix of Oceanlab’s Sky Falls Down, Ocean Of Eternity by Future Breeze and Screaming Inside by Nat Monday.
I don’t normally add UK Garage tracks to the chart, but True by Jaimeson is very catchy and receiving a tonne of airplay. Pop-dance fans will probably enjoy it.

More next month.

December 2002 Dance Chart

Dee Dee tops this month’s chart with the follow-up to Forever which was released in the UK and US earlier in the year. “The One” fairly well sums up how Eurodance has sounded in 2002. And if you wondered who provides Dee Dee’s vocals, it’s a girl called Diana Trippaers. Check the original and Driftwood mixes!
The awesome video for Ligaya by Gouryella is one of the reasons it features so high on this week’s chart. Fans of the Ferry Corsten mix of Adagio For Strings will like this.
Other strong tracks on the chart include the CJ Stone Club Mix of Snap’s Rhythm Is A Dancer 2002, Fire & Ice Close To Me, and the brand new single by Future Breeze called Ocean Of Eternity.
House cuts on the chart include the awesome Robbie Rivera And Billie Paul Vocal mix of Memories by “Rockick”, So Much Love To Give by Thomas Bangalter, and the NYC-house sounding No Ones Gonna Change You by Reina.

Gouryella, De Nuit, and Kirsty Hawkshaw Music Videos

3 more awesome music videos for you! These won’t be shown on MTV USA, and they probably won’t get any radio airplay this side of pond either!
First off is probably my fave vid of the year. Gouryella (aka System F, aka Ferry Corsten) released a fab track in Septmber called Ligaya. As the video starts, you think it’s going to be an ad for a technology company, or the environment or something. It’s very futuristic, and complements the track perfectly. Check the video here.
Next up is one a great summer-feeling Ibiza track called “All That Matters (Love You Down)” by De Nuit. The track samples Love You Down by Ready For The World, and is in a similar style to Roger Sanchez’s Another Chance. The track was released in the UK on Monday. Check out the video here.
The third video is a great cover of the Opus III Classic “Fine Day”. Kirsty Hawkshaw provides the vocals this time round, with excellent mixes from Mike Koglin, James Holden and Steve Murano. Check the video out here.

November 2002 Dance Chart

This month’s chart is topped by a great housey track called “All That Mattered”. It’s been around for a while and gets a full UK release on Credence Records later this month. Basically, if you liked Roger Sanchez’s Another Chance, I think you’ll like this. It’s getting lots of airplay and and it’s really catchy. NICE! In January, Lange will release his long-awaited follow-up to Drifting Away called Don’t Think It, Feel It. Click here for a sample. It should be build over the next 2 months, so watch for it!
For house fans, you should check “back For The Morning” by Neja which is funky and up-tempo, Superstar by Love Inc (due out late November) and Milky – Just The Way you Are (watch video). Actually, I think the Love Inc track may have been released a couple of years ago, but the it’s deffo getting a release in November!
This month has seen a heap of re-makes of 80’s and 90’s pop and dance tracks being re-done – including Broken Wings by Mister Mister, I Just Died in Your Eyes Tonight by Resource, Because The Night by Jan Wayne and Boys Of Summer by DJ Sammy. The best of the lot seems to be Novaspace’s version of Time After Time (originally done by Cindy Lauper).
There’s plenty of other good vocal trance in this month’s chart too – check out Tic Toc by Klea, Ibiza Sunshine by Labworks and the Svenson & Gielen Remix of Dreaming Of You by The Thrillseekers.
Click here for the complete November 2002 chart.
See you in December! Mail Me any recommendations for next month!

DJ Sammy

Kewl beans! I didn’t think the UK would go for a Eurodance cover, but DJ Sammy has beaten off Madonna to go straight into the charts at Number One! NICE 🙂 It’s been around for donkeys and first made it into the (dot)Dance chart way back in March.
In case you haven’t seen it, here’s the video (needs broadband).
Here’s an interesting article on DJ Sammy which says Bryan Adams was so pleased with Sammy’s work on “Heaven” that the DJ said he’s been asked to remix the first single from Adams’ next album, “I Will Always Return.”
DJ Sammy’s new single is another cover – Boys Of Summer.
Oh yeah, I’ll be posting the November chart tomorrow night – sorry it’s late 🙁
